NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will headline a forum next week to discuss solutions for better health and wellness.
The "Total Health Forum" will be held Jan. 28 in Washington, where
former NBA and WNBA players will join Silver, U.S. Surgeon General Vice
Admiral Vivek H. Murthy and Kaiser Permanente Chairman and CEO Bernard
J. Tyson.
Silver has made player health one of his priorities
as commissioner. The forum focuses on health for all individuals and
communities, and identifying necessary steps for a healthier lifestyle.
Kaiser Permanente, the nation's largest integrated health system, is the NBA's official health care partner.
Hall of Famers Bob Lanier and Dikembe Mutombo, former NBA players Shane
Battier and Steve Smith and WNBA stars Tamika Catchings and Swin Cash
also will take part.
The forum comes near the conclusion of NBA
FIT week, which features programs and events encouraging active and
healthy lifestyles.
