Records Ronaldo and Messi have not broken

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's ongoing battle to be the top goalscorer in European football remains perhaps the sport's greatest drama of our age, but both need to raise their game considerably if they are to scoop the following European Champion Clubs' Cup and UEFA Champions League records.

Most goals in European Cup finals: 7 – Alfrédo Di Stéfano, Ferenc Puskás (both Real Madrid)
Goals in most European Cup finals: 5 – Alfrédo Di Stefano (Real Madrid, 1956, 1957, 1958. 1959, 1960)
Most goals in a single European Cup final: 4 – Ferenc Puskás (Real Madrid, 1960)

The Europa League team of the group stage

All-conquering Napoli have two representatives but the rest of the UEFA Europa League group stage all-star XI was drawn from far and wide. So, who made the cut?

Beat Monday's deadline for UEFA EURO 2016 tickets

Time is running out for fans hoping to attend UEFA EURO 2016, with the ticketing portals set to close at 12.00CET on Monday 18 January – make sure you apply before the deadline.

Fans have until 12.00CET on Monday 18 January to apply for UEFA EURO 2016 tickets before the portals close.

The draw in early December raised excitement levels and was swiftly followed by the current, second phase of ticket sales on EURO2016.com – with 800,000 tickets reserved for supporters of the 24 teams. Since then, fans of more than 170 nationalities have applied for tickets for what promises to be a spectacular tournament in France.

Be at the EURO opener – and enjoy past classics

There is still a chance to buy tickets for UEFA EURO 2016's opening match at Stade de France on 10 June between the hosts and Romania.

The second phase of ticket sales on EURO2016.com includes 800,000 tickets reserved for supporters of the 24 competing teams, while a public portal that allows fans to apply for any match in each of the ten host cities is also open.

Opening matches have produced plenty of drama since the final tournament group stage was added in 1980. Who could forget Michel Platini's winner for France against Denmark the last time they hosted the championship in 1984? Or Alan Shearer striking for England against Switzerland at Wembley 12 years later?

How about Giorgos Karagounis starting Greece along the path to glory in 2004 against Portugal or Robert Lewandowski sending Polish fans into raptures four years ago in Warsaw?

Watch all those goals or more in the video above – then get your application in to see France and Romania make more history this summer.
