Championship round-up: Middlesbrough extend lead at top, Brighton's bad form continues and Bolton lose five-goal thriller

The 23-year-old scored a quick-fire double inside 13 minutes, his second was a cool finish after beating the offside trap. Lasse Vigen Christensen soon pulled one back for the Cottagers on 24 minutes with a well-taken header. Matt Doherty scored Wolves’ third and Ross McCormack doubled Fulham’s tally to make for a tense ending, but Kenny Jackett’s men held on.

Burnley moved to fourth with a comfortable 5-0 win against ten-man MK Dons.

Joey Barton netted his first goal for the Clarets early on before forwards Sam Vokes and Andre Gray added to the score sheet. Former Aston Villa defender Matt Lowton added to the tally as he coolly smash home George Boyd’s low cross.

With just 15 minutes left on the clock, the home side’s Antony Kay was shown a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Boyd on the edge of MK’s box. Boyd raced into the box late on to finish well and make it five.

The current winless run goes on for crisis club Charlton, who were beaten 5-0 at Huddersfield.

That victory makes it three unbeaten for David Wagner’s men, thanks to Mark Hudson’s opener on 17 minutes before Nahki Wells finished well to double their lead before half-time. Charlton folded as they conceded three more goals as Jamie Paterson, Duane Holmes and Jason Davidson added to their misery.

The Addicks’ night was made worse when striker Reza Ghoochannejhad was sent off as he was booked twice in as many minutes.

Meanwhile at Portman Road, Leeds scored the fastest Football League goal of the season in their 2-1 defeat against Ipswich.

With the Tractor Boys taking kick-off, Whites forward Souleymane Doukara stole the ball and netted after 12 seconds. Mick McCarthy’s men equalised early in the second half when captain Luke Chambers headed home loanee Ryan Fraser’s corner. Brett Pittman scored in added time to condemn Steve Evans’ side to their first defeat since November, as Ipswich go fifth.

Derby remain second but are now six points behind leaders Middlesbrough after drawing 1-1 with Reading.

The Rams took the lead through Jason Shackell but Brian McDermott’s side were back on level terms as USA international Danny Williams powerfully headed past Lee Grant.

And finally, quick-fire goals in the first-half set Nottingham Forest and Birmingham on their way to a 1-1 draw.

The Blues’ early lead came through Jon Toral but Matt Mills cancelled that out as he headed home David Vaughan’s cross on the half hour. Vaughan was dismissed in the second half for a high foot challenge.
